Inspiration Sunday - Instagram Edition

This week's inspiration is all about TYPE. It's found everywhere - on the huge billboards that fill Times Square, in the films/television we watch and is the bones of every magazine/blog/newspaper that's published. The world be a terribly boring place without the talented designers out there that are creating beautiful fonts and typography for all of us to enjoy. House Portrait Season

Spring has sprung and that means it's house portrait season.
I've loved doing these watercolor paintings over the last several years and it's always such a pleasure to give someone a gift that holds so many memories.

Lucian Freud: 1922-2011

I have always been a big fan of Freud. A few years back, I took my first Photoshop class at FIT with William Low. In order to learn about the program and it's brushes, I chose to practice with one of my favorite paintings. He will be missed.

Inspiration Sunday

One of my biggest passions has been animals, ever since I was a young girl and Franz Marc is one of my absolute favorite painters! This tiger is near and dear to my heart. I copied two of Marc's paintings as a child and this one was dedicated to my grandfather.

It's been a long time... full of work, turkey dinners and California!

Just got back this past weekend from attending the CTN Animation Expo. It was an amazing experience spent with two great friends and artists: Peter Emmerich and David DePasquale. I met so many wonderful fellow illustrators, artists and personal idols (that I have looked up to for years). Truly a wonderful experience that I hope to have again next year... portfolio in hand!

Here's a painting I did when I got back that is now in my parent's kitchen. It's a big piece that I had a lot of fun with!

Little Red

In my mentor class this past semester, we were given the freedom to design our own project. My theme - What would happen if you mixed crime dramas with classic fairytales?

My first design came out like this:




After some minor changes and alterations it turned into this:





Some of the warmth from the first one got lost but I liked the design of the second one better. I think that I could easily paint a third one...
